Destination USA
The quilts in this exhibition are the result of a 3 week artist residency, on a farm near La Grange, Texas where Sue had a studio provided and access to a woodland wilderness.
She spent her days designing fabric using surface design techniques of dyeing, printing and rubbing. The site-specific work is a record of her surrounds and personal interaction with a landscape new to an Australian’s eye.
On return to her studio in Australia, Sue has added the dimensional quality of machine quilting to enhance the designs capturing unique nuances of time and place.
